Looking to get Involved?

MI-AIMH has many committees that vary in degree of participation and involvement. If you’re looking for a way to get involved with MI-AIMH or gain leadership experience to beef up your resume, we likely have a committee that fits your needs.

The following committees are alway looking for more members!

  • 2024 Conference Planning Committee
    • The Conference Planning Committee is charged with the responsibility of planning the MI-AIMH biennial Conference.  This includes ensuring that the Conference aligns with MI-AIMH’s mission and that the Conference content aligns with the competencies that comprise Endorsement®
    • This committee has many opportunities for participation the range from very small and time limited to much larger and more time intensive.  This committee includes many subcommittees, such as: Banquet, Networking, Workshops, Marketing, Policy Luncheon, Student Posters, and Scholarships

  • IMH Statewide Training Committee
    • Our committee is sponsored through MDHHS with collaboration with MI-AIMH for trainings. We provide three times yearly meetings to support clinicians in the field of IMH with training in a specialized topic.  Charge of the Statewide Meeting Committee:
    • To plan and develop regular and on-going statewide Infant Mental Health meetings which:
      • Support the Infant Mental Health Practitioner working in the field;
      • Offer new knowledge, research information, intervention techniques and skill development;
      • Provide a forum for networking and information exchange with others working in the field;
      • Allow for updates and information from the Michigan Association for Infant Mental Health and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services

  • Development Committee (Previously known as Fundraising Committee) 
    • The main purpose of the Development Committee is to work in collaboration with the central office to develop strategies on how to communicate, fundraise, and market the products and message of MI-AIMH for potential donors. This involves:
      • Increasing revenue annually
      • Increasing product sales annually

  • Membership & Chapter Committee
    • The Chapter/Membership Committee holds a vital and exciting role in the development, communication, connection and functioning of the MI-AIMH Chapters across Michigan! Some responsibilities of this committee include the following:
      • Communicating with MI-AIMH chapters and their members to identify and support their specific needs
      • Encouraging connection between chapters and members
      • Organizing communication that highlights MI-AIMH news, member success and connects professionals across the state
      • Collaborating with other MI-AIMH committees as appropriate
      • Assisting Chapters that may not be thriving, to identify ways to strengthen their membership
      • Developing new and creative ways to support MI-AIMH chapters and members
      • Time commitment: 1 hour committee conference phone call every other month, frequent e-mail communication (as needed) and approximately 1 hour of your time each month on committee responsibilities.

  • Social Action Committee
    • The Social Action Committee of MI-AIMH works hard to keep our members abreast of social justice issues and causes. We count it as a privilege to keep our membership engaged and informed of local, state and federal policies, in addition to initiatives and any social action endeavors concerning children and families
    • Our membership includes a vast network of mental health providers, advocates, educators, policy makers, clinicians, home visitors, administrators and so much more who are dedicated to advocacy
    • We are always looking for motivated and energetic individuals who are passionate about advocating for young children and their families, and reaching out to their communities to help them stay abreast of important policies impacting infants and young children
    • Commitment: monthly-quarterly conference calls and potential advocacy events

  • Professional Development Committee
    • The Professional Development Committee coordinates with  central office to plan trainings across the State of Michigan.   The committee generates training topics based upon feedback from our membership on areas of interest that will increase skill and competency development
    • The committee focusses on offering trainings in various locations within Michigan to provide greater accessibility to trainings throughout the state.  We also support chapters who are interested in hosting trainings locally
    • Members of this committee often assist in hosting responsibilities on training days

Other Volunteer Opportunities: 

MI-AIMH Endorsement Ambassadors* 

  • Assist in Meeting Endorsement Goals. Endorsement Ambassadors may offer help in a variety of ways that interest them, such as: 
    • Host Individual Endorsement office hours to help walk professionals through the application
    • Become trained application reviewers
    • Skim applications and provide feedback/support to applicants as an advisor
    • Speak on Endorsement at conference exhibitor tables or to individual programs directly
    • Help us seek and apply for funding related to building Endorsement Staff Capacity
