The Competency Guidelines® offer a standard for infant mental health practitioners to be recognized for their consistent ability to use best infant mental health practice on a daily basis.  They are the starting point for earning the IMH-E®, an internationally-recognized credential verifying your education, training, and experience in the diverse and rapidly expanding infant-family field. The Competency Guidelines® provide detailed outlines of the requirements for each of the four IMH-E® designations, including education, training, and reflective supervisory experiences as part of infant mental health best practices.

The Competency Guidelines® offer individuals, employers and agencies in the infant and family field a pathway to development that leads to increased confidence and credibility.

SPECIAL NOTE:  Individual state infant mental health associations are responsible for licensing the use of the Endorsement Competency Guidelines® and the IMH-E® credential for their state. If you live outside of Michigan and are interested in the IMH-E®, please also check with your state or international infant mental health association to see if they license the Endorsement Competency Guidelines® and for more information on becoming Endorsed® in your state.
