Co-Sponsored by: Upper Peninsula Association for Infant Mental Health and Michigan Association for Infant Mental Health
Presented by: Maria Muzic, MD, MSc and Katherine L. Rosenblum, Ph.D.
Presenters are faculty at the University of Michigan Department of Psychiatry. This training is targeted towards clinicians, school staff, early childhood professionals, nurses, child welfare staff and others who regularly have contact with young children and their families.
Description: Attendees will learn about the concept of reflective functioning (RF) as a foundation for a person’s capacity to take another person’s perspective in a sensitive and empathic way, and to hold another person in mind with compassion and caring while being also aware of one’s own needs, thoughts and feelings. Attendees will also learn how to build capacity to develop or expand RF in children, how to support the maturation of RF in adults with impaired RF and how clinicians can foster their own reflective capacity.
