An Introduction to Infant Mental Health Theory and Practice for Home Visitors

This training is sponsored generously by the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWHN). Therefore, training attendees need to be employed by a Detroit Wayne Infant Mental Health program and a registration code is required to register. 

This three-day training provides Infant Mental Health home visiting professionals the opportunity to share and learn about their work through video, group discussion, and clinical observations.  Participants will consider new ways of working with infants, toddlers, and families that support parent infant relationships.  An overview of Infant Mental Health theory, attachment, strategies, assessment, and interventions will be discussed and practiced. ***This training is for those new to the IMH field and have not attended this foundational three-day intro training yet.

Dates: August 27, 30 & September 24, 2021

Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Access: Trainings will be offered through Zoom.  A zoom link will be sent to registrants closer to the training. Be careful when entering your email address so that it is correct.

IMPORTANT – in order to receive a certificate and/or Continuing Education you will need to have a Zoom account (which is free) logged in to view the training.  We are able to export a report from Zoom which will track your attendance.  When you are signed in, your name appears along with the amount of time you were on the Zoom call.  Only those names that appear on the report will receive certificates with continuing education credits/clock hours.  Attendees must keep their video on for the majority of the training as part of the requirement for ceus. • To articulate both the infant’s and parents’ perspectives within the context of relationships.
  (Understanding and interpreting the use of videotapes for home visiting and supervision.)
• To begin to understand the strategies used for home visiting in infant family work.
  (Services that reinforce and nurture the caregiver-infant/young child relationship.)
• To be able to keep the baby central to IMH Home Visiting work.
  (Helping the parents initiate interactions and support the infant’s development)

Continuing Education Information – 16.5 training hours:

Social Work – Approved for 16.5 Michigan SW CEU’s
IMH Endorsement® – Will count towards the requirements for the MI-AIMH Endorsement®
NEW! Licensed Professional Counselors – NBCC Hours – Michigan Association for Infant Mental Health (MI-AIMH) has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No.6867.  Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified.  MI-AIMH is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
