Supervising IMH Court Cases: Providing a Containing Presence at the Edge of a Cliff
This highly interactive workshops will focus on a supervisor’s reflective role in supporting supervisee’s serving infant/toddlers and families with open Foster Care cases; partnering to identify and keep the complex needs of the infant/toddler at the center of multi-system cases. Too often, reflective processing of frequently shifting uncertainties, ambivalent feelings, and sources of self-doubt becomes a shared experience of frustration that may threaten the reflective supervisor’s best efforts to provide a calming space for strengthening the supervisee’s ability to contain and explore the significance and value of difficult feelings, Case material will be used to push beyond questions of “Who else is feeling this way?” to reflect on “Who is not feeling this way, and why or why not – and what should happen next?” This training is for current supervisors only.
