Morning Session:

THE POWER OF TRUST IN RELATIONSHIPS: FROM BEGINNINGS AND BABIES TO REFLECTIVE SUPERVISION

This workshop will focus on the parallel processes involved in the development of infants’ first relationships and also in relationships created through reflective supervision to provide the best support to practitioners who influence the lives of infants and toddlers and their parents or caregivers.   Through video, group activities and discussion, participants will consider the significance of trust both for the emotional well being of babies, young children and families as well as for the development of skilled, committed clinicians and practitioners.

Afternoon Session:

FIRST LOVES LOST:  SEPARATION, LOSS AND GRIEF IN THE EARLY YEARS

This workshop will explore first attachment relationships, in light of the developmental tasks of separation-individuation  and consequences of the early trauma involved in significant separations from and/or loss of the primary caregiver, including the mourning process, complications that hinder resolution and perspectives and strategies that practitioners may find most useful to support infants, toddlers and their caregivers through the grief work to help young children back toward healthy developmental pathways.  A live reflective supervision that involves a young child’s losses will allow follow-up discussion and reflection centered on meeting the needs of the child, parent or caregiver, and the practitioner.
