IMH Statewide Training

Challenging families or challenging situations?

How perceptions impact engagement

This training series is for you if you work in Michigan in the 0-6  field: i.e. infant and early childhood mental health therapists, early care and education, Early On, Early Head Start, HFA home visitors, foster care, pediatricians, nurses, etc. For those working towards Endorsement®, this training series is a wonderful addition to your Endorsement® Application!

Description:
This workshop will build upon ideas presented in the two previous workshops related to ethical practice and the importance of self -awareness and reflection in relationship based work.  We will focus on supporting families with infants and young children who are faced with the challenges of  substance use disorder, court mandated treatment, mental illness and teen parenting. We will examine the importance of promoting engagement through the professional’s ongoing examination of their own unconscious bias, judgements and beliefs and by acknowledging the dilemmas that may come about in working with families in challenging situations.
*Note, you do not need to have attended the previous IMH Statewide trainings to attend and participate in this training
