Day 2: (Day 2 is optional and requires attendance at Day 1 session) This second day session of Understanding and Supporting Infants and Children with Autism will provide a brief overview of approaches to intervention/education connected to underlying models of human development. Using the frameworks of self-regulation and functional emotional development capacities, participants will learn to link the behaviors they observe in children to underlying bio-psycho-social processes. Dimensions and levels of the therapeutic relationship will ne discussed. Several participants will have the opportunity to present a case and work in small groups with presenters to unpack the case and discuss intervention strategies. The workshop will end with consideration of the essential partnership with families and promoting the parental reflective function.
