Event Navigation

Building Reflective Capacity Through Shared Experiences of Vulnerability, Wonder, and Connection

It is through relationships that we all learn at the start, and really, all through life.  What elements help to build an exploratory approach to the world and create opportunities to wonder and learn together?  What opens us up rather than shuts us down to the experiences of others?  The same things that invite infants and young children to listen, see, touch, feel, and think as they figure out who they are and how to be in this world—these same ‘things’ are at work when we participate in reflective supervision, whether in a group or individually.  These ‘things’ inspire our reflective functioning/capacity.

To consider what those ‘things’ are and how we can bring them into play, this training experience will offer a brief review of some of the most important elements that influence the unfolding of the safe and yet challenging space that good reflective supervision encourages, followed by a live reflective supervision as well as group discussion and activities.

With prior input from those who sign up for this workshop, the presenter will tailor this workshop to focus more distinctly upon individual or group RS, in order to make it most relevant to the group needs and wishes.

Throughout the workshop, participants will explore key facets of growing relationships for learning within a protected space that can unlock personal reflections as we wrestle with our own limits and vulnerabilities in our work with extremely challenged families, while simultaneously striving to build reflective capacity also in others.

We are asking those who are interested in participating in this workshop to consider presenting a case in which they are involved. We also are asking participants of their preference in terms of whether to provide more focus upon individual or group supervision, in order to structure the training accordingly. Please email interest/preferences to Lindi Kanine at lkanine@mi-aimh.org.
