Detroit Wayne Mental Health Authority and MI-AIMH – Early Childhood Learning Series
Supporting the Foundation of Development: Using the Attachment, Regulation and Competency (ARC) Framework to Inform Play Therapy Interventions in Early Childhood
Attachment disruptions and trauma can negatively impact a child’s developmental trajectory. This workshop explores the ARC framework and uses experiential activities to model Play Therapy strategies for children and families that support attachment, regulation and competency development during early childhood.

Location Change: The Dearborn Atrium, 835 Mason, Dearborn, MI 48124 – The training room will be immediately on the right once you enter the building from the parking lot/structure area. Signage out front labels the building as the Atrium
Parking: The parking structure has an entrance off of Monroe, and it is on the corner of Monroe and Garrison.

Learning Objectives:

Participants will be able to identify the ten building blocks defined in the ARC framework and the importance of each block in supporting early childhood development during Play Therapy sessions.

Participants will be able to identify 1-2 ways in which traumatic stress can impact health, relationships and development.

Participants will be able to identify 3-5 ways to utilize the ARC framework with caregivers to support Play Therapy treatment.

Participants will feel comfortable utilizing 1-2 Play Therapy techniques to support the attachment block of the ARC framework.

Participants will feel comfortable utilizing 1-2 Play Therapy techniques to support the regulation block of the ARC framework.

Participants will feel comfortable utilizing 1-2 Play Therapy techniques to support the competency block of the ARC framework.

IMH Endorsement® – Will count towards the requirements for the MI-AIMH Endorsement®
NEW! Licensed Professional Counselors – NBCC Hours – Michigan Association for Infant Mental Health (MI-AIMH) has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No.6867. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. MI-AIMH is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
