A Place to Feel: The Supervisor’s Use of Self in Reflective Supervision
One of the more challenging aspects of home visiting with vulnerable families is the toll it can take on the clinician and the reflective supervisor. Witnessing, listening to, and containing the suffering of others can cause us to become overwhelmed by or inured to the pain of what we encounter as home visitors and reflective supervisors. This workshop will address the theoretical and practical aspects of how we absorb and make meaning of the unconscious therapeutic communications of the babies, parents, and home visitors, and what we need in order to maintain a sense of hope. It will feature a live reflective supervision with follow up time to discuss the thoughts, feelings, reactions and questions raised in observing the Reflective Supervision fishbowl.
*This training is for Detroit-Wayne Infant and Early Childhood Program Supervisors only. We would like to extend training registration to include anyone on your team that is being groomed/considered a future supervisor.
