Carla Barron is 2010 Recipient of the Esther Dean Callard Award

On Tuesday, June 15, the Metro Detroit Chapter of MI-AIMH held its annual meeting.  Hosted by Chapter President Shelle Russell, attendees enjoyed fabulous Jamaican food and the company of good friends & colleagues.  During the program, Shelle thanked the current Chapter Board Members and announced that all will continue through the following year for a second term.  Special guest, Deborah Weatherston, PhD (MI-AIMH’s Executive Director) gave a brief presentation on the activities on the state level including training, endorsement, diversity, and advocacy.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Esther Dean Callard Award to this year’s recipient Carla (Caringi) Barron.  Nominated by Pam Pitlanish, Connie Cecil, Nichole Paradis, and Deborah Weatherston, Carla’s accomplishments as an infant mental health specialist, reflective supervisor/consultant, writer, trainer, and Metro Detroit Board Member were recognized and honored.  One nominator stated, "Carla continues her impassioned commitment to better beginnings for all babies and all families through the preparation of professionals in the practice of infant mental health.  Esther would be so pleased!!!"

Carla’s husband John, daughter Olivia, son Anthony, and parents Augi & Betty Caringi joined members of the Metro Detroit Chapter in the celebration.
