Starfish Family Services in Need of Baby Power Volunteers

We are looking for volunteers for our Baby Power group. Baby Power is a 10-12 week attachment based parenting group.

Child Team Members will:

  • provide child care and activities for infants and toddlers while their Moms attend group

  • support Moms & their children during dinner time

  • observe attachment behaviors between mother & child

  • assist with set-up and clean-up

  • attend a debriefing session after each group

  • document observations of parent-child interaction and child behaviors

  • play a vital role in an ongoing research project

This is an opportunity to learn more about attachment and infant
& toddler development. This is also a great experience for students in Early Childhood, Social Work, Psychology, and for those preparing for a career in Infant Mental Health.

  • Attend a mandatory Child Team orientation (1/29/13, 3-5pm or 2/18/13, 3-5pm).

  • Complete the Starfish Volunteer intake process, including a DHS clearance, TB test, and criminal background check.

  • Be available to attend group once a week. Our next groups start Wednesday evenings in February 2013 and Monday afternoons in March 2013.
