Conference Scholarships

NOW Accepting Scholarship Applications!

MI-AIMH has designated funds for a limited number of scholarships to attend this conference. Funds will be awarded for amounts up to the full conference fee. The Scholarship Committee will review all applications submitted online by Friday, March 1, 2019 .  Scholarships will be awarded by Friday, March 22, 2019, to allow for Early Bird registration for scholarship winners.  A letter with a decision will be emailed to you. For those who receive a scholarship, you will receive special registration instructions. It is important to bring your acceptance letter with you to check in at the conference. All Scholarship Committee decisions are final; there is no appeal process for decisions made on awarding scholarships. Scholarship recipients will be required to volunteer for a portion of the conference.

Application Information

You will be asked to provide contact information and answer some questions.  Additionally, you will be asked the following questions:

  • Why do you need scholarship assistance?
  • How will you and/or your agency benefit from your attendance?
  • What other costs will be associated for you (mileage, hotel, etc.)
  • Ability to share any other relevant information

FAQ’s for 2019 MI-AIMH Conference Scholarships

What costs does a scholarship cover?
The scholarship will cover up to the full amount of your conference registration fee.  It will not cover special events that have additional fees associated – such as the banquet.  The scholarship will not cover travel, food or overnight accommodations.

How do I apply?

Do I have to apply online?
Yes, in order to qualify for a scholarship, only online applications are being accepted.

When can I apply?
Applications will be available mid January 2019, conference registration opens early February 2019.

Do I have to have a Google Account to complete the application?
No.  You will need an email address, but it does not need to be a Google email.

When is the application submission deadline?
All applications must be completed online by March 1, 2019.

Do I have to be a MI-AIMH Member to qualify for a scholarship?
No, the conference approves a variety of scholarship applications and you do not need to be a MI-AIMH member to apply.

When will decisions be made regarding my scholarship application?
Decisions will be made by March 15, 2019.  You will receive an email from the Scholarship Committee indicating your application status by March 22, 2019.

If I disagree with the Committee decision, can I appeal for reconsideration?
All decisions are final and an appeal will not be considered.

If the decision is made after registration opens on Feb. 8th, how will I be sure to get into the sessions that I want to attend?

If you register AFTER decisions have been made, you will receive instructions and a scholarship code to enter during the registration process.  This code will reduce your conference registration fees.

You can register for the conference while you are waiting for a scholarship decision.  You MUST select “Check Payment” as your payment option during registration.  If you do not receive a scholarship, you will be responsible for paying your registration fee (as well as other additional fees as appropriate) or canceling your registration if you choose not to attend.

Will decisions be made before the end of the Early Bird Registration period?  Yes.

I heard that I have to volunteer during the conference if I am awarded a scholarship. Is that true?
Yes.  You will be expected to volunteer for a small portion of the conference.  Opportunities include helping the registration table, being the spokesperson in a conference session to introduce speaker and other relevant information, etc.
