U.S.WAIMH Affiliates
The Consortium of US WAIMH Affiliates - 2009
The US WAIMH Affiliates are pleased to announce the formation of the Consortium of US WAIMH Affiliates. The Consortium is designed to create a united and coordinated voice across US Affiliates and will result in an enhanced relationship and communications with WAIMH. Coordination is also intended to result in a more active and healthy infant mental health community in the US.
A number of US WAIMH Affiliate representatives have been communicating over the last year to lay the groundwork for the Consortium. During the Zero to Three National Training Institute in Dallas, Texas in December 2009, details of the agreement forming the Consortium were completed. Attendees designated Joy Browne, of the Colorado Association for Infant Mental Health, as representative to the WAIMH Affiliates Representative Council at the 2010 Congress in Leipzig. The members present in Dallas planned for a conference call in May and another face to face meeting at the 2010 NTI in Phoenix, Arizona.
The Consortium currently has 21 active members and would welcome new US Affiliate members as they join WAIMH. Affiliates who would like to join the Consortium should forward Affiliate information (Name, website) and the name and contact information of their leadership (President, Chairperson, Executive Director) to Joy Browne. The majority of communications will occur via email.
The rules of the cooperative agreement indicate that each US WAIMH Affiliate shall designate one person with the authority to represent the Affiliate to participate. Members of the group, composed of 21 Affiliates in the United States, will maintain their individual WAIMH status. There will be no fees for at least the first 2 years and reconsideration of a fee assessment is planned for December 2011.Chairpersons will serve for 2 years and represent the Consortium at the WAIMH Affiliate Representative Council. Decisions will be made by majority vote and any Affiliate may bring issues, concerns, ideas, proposals, etc to the group for consideration.
